Social sciences teachers competence levels critical thinking

The purpose of this study,''Social Studies Teachers to gain critical thinking skills to determine Proficiency Levels''. The study used survey method. Population of the study, the municipal boundaries of the province of Malatya in the 2009-2010 academic year the primary school social studies teachers, 53 primary schools in the sample is 110 Social Studies Teachers. The data, Facione, Facione, and Giancarlo (1998) and developed by Kökdemir (2003) adapted by "California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory" and collected. SPSS 17.0 package program was used for the analysis of the data obtained. At the end of the research results are the following:Teachers' tendencies in general, with medium levels of critical thinking; analyticity, openmindedness, inquisitiveness, truth, exploration, critical thinking subscales Systematictymoderate tendencies, self-confidence subscale has been concluded that the high level of critical thinking tendencies.Critical thinking disposition in favor of female teachers in terms of significant differences between female and male teachers that this difference in size was observed to be lower right call. Female and male teachers analyticity, openmindedness, inquisitiveness,systematicty subscales have moderate and self-confidence and the Search for Truth, a high level of sub-size female teachers, male teachers has been concluded that a low level.Critical thinking in terms of total score tends to faculty of education graduates in science and literature teachers the means of the average high school graduate teachers to be attained. However, this difference is o result of the t-test critical thinking and science-education literature tends to show any significance between school graduate teachers has been concluded.Key words: Critical thinking, critical thinking disposition, teachers, learning style.
