The opinions and suggestions of the social sciences teachers about measurement and evaluations techniques

II ABSTRACT The purpose of this research, is to determine Social Sciences teachers' knowledge who work in primary schools, when they evaluate and compare the students' success and what their views about this area and how these views are reflected to their applications. The research, was based on survey data performed on 63 Social Sciences teachers who work in schools bound to M.E.B. in towns and centre of Eskişehir. When statistically analysing, the data obtained in the survey SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Sciences) package programme was used. According to the results of the survey, teachers prefer giving student information about their level and directing them to study, mamtaining to get precautions determining their deficiencies, guiding and knowing, them carefully and when evaluating students success by means of praise, teachers prefer getting criteria about students psycholojic circumtances when they are deciding the students success. Evaluating method which teachers mostly use is multiple choice tests. Teacher's not being able to chose the appropriate method and technic, cause most of the students in the same class to continously faul at the end of the evaluations period In connection with the results of the survey, it's suggested to be concentrated on practice in classes about evaluation technics which tought in education faculties to got rid of deficiencies of teachers about this subject by giving them in service training and to be sant publications about the subject.
