Özet (EN)

The aim of the study is to examine the effect of social appearance anxiety and negative attitude towards problems on subjective happiness. In addition, the relationships between these variables were determined and it was examined whether these variables differed according to demographic characteristics. A total of 406 individuals, 210 women and 196 men living in Turkey, participated in the study. Relational survey model was used in the study. Demographic Information Form, Social Appearance Anxiety, Negative Attitude towards Problems Scale and Subjective Happiness Scale were used as data collection tools. Pearson correlation analysis, Independent Sample T-Test and Multiple Linear Regression were used to analyze the data. As a result of the study, it was seen that social appearance anxiety, negative attitude towards problems and subjective happiness variables had a statistically significant relationship with each other. There was a negative relationship between social appearance anxiety and subjective happiness, a positive relationship between social appearance anxiety and negative attitude towards problems, and a negative relationship between subjective happiness and negative attitude towards problems. While there was a significant difference in the level of social appearance anxiety according to marital status, education status, applying effects and filters to photos or videos on social media and whether or not there was a social media profile with a name other than one's own name; there was no significant difference between gender and whether or not they used social media accounts. While there was a significant difference in the level of negative attitude towards problems according to gender, marital status, education status, working status, applying effects to photos or videos on social media, filtering status and whether or not there was a social media profile with a name other than one's own name; no significant difference was found according to whether or not they used a social media account. While there was a significant difference in the subjective happiness level according to gender, marital status, working status and whether or not there was a social media profile with a name other than one's own name; there was no significant difference according to education status, whether or not to use social media accounts and to apply effects and filters to photos or videos on social media. In the regression model, social appearance anxiety and negative attitude towards problems variables were taken as predictors of subjective happiness. When the beta coefficients were evaluated as a result of multiple linear regression analysis, it was seen that the regression model was statistically significant. Social appearance anxiety and negative attitude towards problems variables have a weakly significant relationship with subjective happiness scores. According to the T-Test result of the significance of the regression coefficients, it is seen that social appearance anxiety and negative attitude towards problems are predictors of subjective happiness.
