A netnographic examination on feminism perceptions of social media users: An Instagram account sample for Kız Başına

Feminism has emerged as a movement that aims to find solutions to gender inequality, the difficulties and troubles imposed on women and men by the roles imposed on them, and the injustice and oppression suffered by women, who are the most affected party, in the society, the problems they face and their marginalization. It is necessary for every individual in the society to have a feminist consciousness for inequalities, difficulties and injustices to be resolved and for a more just and egalitarian world. In parallel with the birth of the Internet, which is the result of the development of technology, the movement of activist movements, including the feminist movement, to virtual environments has enabled these movements to take their information and organization ability from social platforms to a significant extent. In this direction, considering the dimensions of social platforms such as informing, raising awareness and organizing the society, it is thought that these platforms can be functional on users' perceptions of feminism. In this context, in this study; Using the netnographic analysis method, an answer was sought to the question of what social media users' perceptions of feminism are through the example of an Instagram account Kız Başına. As a result, it has been determined that there are differences in the perceptions of feminism of male and female users. In addition, it has been seen that factors such as religion, morality, and national values are determinative in the formation of users' perceptions of feminism, women's negative perceptions are more open to change, and the primary factor in eliminating the patriarchal mentality is the education to be provided from the basics.
