The folklore policies and studies in Turkmenistan in the Soviet Union period. (1917?1954)

ABSTRACT[KALENDEROĞLU, İhsan].[The Folklore policies and studies in Turkmenistan in the Soviet Union period (1917?1954)].[Doctorate]. Ankara [2007]In this thesis ?The Folklore Policies and Studies İn Turkmenistan İn The Soviet Union Period. (1917?1954)? the usage of folklore in Russia, mostly in Turkmenistan as a means of effective propaganda by Bolsheviks who gained the control in 1917 in Russia in order to get the public to accept the Communist regime and Communism has been evaluated.The thesis consists of four main parts including the Introduction part. In the Introduction part a chronological order has been followed and the history of Turkmen and Turkmenistan until the October Revolution has been mentioned. The history of Turkmenistan until Tsarist Russia and in Tsarist Russia period has been evaluated seperately. Moreover, up to date information about the geography, population and economical structure of Turkmenistan has been supplied. At the same time some information has been given about the historical development of the Turkmen Literature and the studies carried out until the Bolshevik regimeIn the first part, some information about the establishment and structuring of the Bolshevik (communist) regime in Russia and Turkmenistan has been given. Moreover, the folklore policies in The Soviet Union, and the reflection of these policies on the Republics of the Union and Turkmenistan has been examined. In this part, mainly the restructuring period in Russian folklore after the October Revolution has been mentioned and the effects of the changes on the other parts of the Soviet Union has been tried to be found out.In the second part of the thesis the points about the Turkmen folklore after the October Revolution has been studied in two seperate parts; that is, Lenin and Stalin period. In this part, cultural (literature, folklore, language, religion) policies in Turkmenistan in both leaders period have been emphasized and the studies on folklore have been pointed out.In the third part of the thesis the application of the folklore policies mentioned in the second part on the folklor types of the period has been studied concretely.In the conclusion part a general evaluation has been carried out.KEY WORDS1.
