Abstract (EN)

The objective of this study is to find out the frequency of the suffix use in Turkish. In order to achieve this goal, the corpus of this project has been formed via corpus-based analysis methodology. Now that the subject matter of suffixes are related to the field of morphology, the concepts of `morphology? and `morpheme? have been sucritinized as well. While determining the frequency of the suffix use, the suffix catagories to be used are based on the data derived from four significant guide books such as (Adalı O. (2004). Türkiye Türkçesinde Biçimbirimler. İstanbul: Papatya Yayınları.; Banguoğlu, T. (2004). Türkçenin Grameri. Ankara: TDK Yayınları.; Göksel A. ve Kerslake C. (2005). Turkish A Comprehensive Grammar. London ve New York: Routledge.; Kormaz, Z. (2003). Türkiye Türkçesi Grameri (Şekil Bilgisi). Ankara: TDK Yayınları.) By means of benefiting from abovementioned sources, a new and wholistic classification is made under the headings of `derivational? and `inflectional? suffixes. Moreover, in the same table an analysis of oral records with their numerical and proportional results is presented. With a close study of the corpus, findings related to the derivational and inflectional suffixes are evaluated. While the findings about the derivational suffixes are studied in the part of the derivational suffixes that are added to nouns or verbs; data related to the inflectional suffixes are examined in the nominal and verbal inflecional suffixes section. The findings about derivational and inflectional suffixes are presented in this study to make a contribution to Turkish instructors while teaching Turkish as a native or second language.
