-76- The Evaluation of the Applications in Secondary Education Institutions That Train Students in the Field of Sports Abstract The present research aims to reveal and evaluate the applications in Secondary Education Institutions that train students in the field of sports. The sample of the research covers 11 schools that train students in the field of sports within the borders of Ankara Province, and 44 principals and managers; 50 Physical Training Teachers, and 211 students from those 1 1 schools. The whole sample was included in the research. In the research, the instruments that were used to collect data were questionnaire, interview and scanning. The data was obtained from written sources; from principles and managers who serve the secondary education schools that train students in the field of sports; from the teachers who train the students and the students in sports field; and, from the personal observations and interviews of the researcher. The data obtained from the research was analyzed by using SPSS 9.0 packet program. As statistical techniques, percentage (%), mean, independent (t) test, and Chi- square (x2) techniques were used, and the significance levels were calculated at p<0,05 level. It is found that 50% of the schools involved in the research sample were sufficient with respect to materials and articles required for the training of the students whereas the other 50% of them were found to be poor. It was also found that The Ministry of National Education did not require those schools to meet certain criteria regarding to the availability of sports materials. The starting of training in sports fields in a school is totally left to the will of the school management. Finally, it was found that there were unsolved problems in all of the schools we researched that stem from the election and guidance of the students, the syllabus and its implementation, the difficulties that were experienced by teachers in obtaining necessary teaching resources, and from the present applications.
