Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to examine the communication skills and technology usage habit levels of the students at the faculty of sports sciences. The sample of the study consists of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students in the Departments of Physical Education and Sports, Coaching, Sports Management and Recreation at Sakarya University of Applied Science Faculty of Sports Sciences. Convenience sampling technique was used and 395 students (261 males, 134 females) voluntarily participated in the research. Data's were collected using Personal Information Form, Communication Skills Scale and Technology Usage Habit Scale. Statistical significance level was p<0.05 and it was determined that the data did not show normal distribution. Descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis and Spearman correlation tests were used to evaluate the data. The communication skills and technology usage habit levels of the sports science faculty students are above the average score. In terms of gender variable, there was a small significant difference in favor of women in the Communication Principles and Basic Skills and Effective Listening and Non-Verbal Communication sub-dimensions and the Communication Skills Scale total score (p<.05), in other sub-dimensions of the communication scale and in the Technology Usage Habit scale scores. It was determined that there was no significant difference (p>.05). There were no significant difference in Communication Skills and Technology Usage Habit levels in terms of undergraduate department and grade level variables (p>.05). A positive correlation was found between the Communication Skills Scale and its sub-dimensions, and between the Technology Usage Habits Scale and its sub-dimensions (p<.05). Students of the faculty of sports sciences should be encouraged to participate in training on improving their communication skills and regulating their technology usage habits.
