Investigation of the effect of sports sciences faculty students' opinions on the internet-based distance education on the levels of happiness

In this study, it was aimed to examine the effect of the opinions of the students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences towards internet-based distance education on their level of happiness. The universe of the study is made up of students studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences. The research sample consists of Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Sports Sciences students in the 2020-2021 academic year. The data were delivered to the participants by Google Forms and their voluntary participation in the research was based on. The questionnaire used to collect relevant data in the study consists of three parts. In the first part, demographic information was created, in the second part the Views on Distance Education Scale, in the third part the Oxford Happiness Scale. The obtained data were statistically analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 package program. The extreme values in the data set and whether the assumption of multivariate normality were met was examined with the help of Mahalanobis distance values and 3 data showing outlier extreme values were removed from the data set. Independent Sample T test for binary variables, variables more than two were analyzed with Anova Test. The obtained findings were statistically tested with a significance level of p <0.05. It was used descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and parametric tests in the analysis of the data.As a result of the research, it is seen that while students' views on distance education are low in scale total and dimensions, their level of happiness is at a medium level. In the dimension of personality in distance education, x̄= 15,1607 is at a very low level; In the dimension of effectiveness in distance education, x̄= 11,1567 at a very low level; In the dimension of teaching in distance education, it is very low with an average of x̄= 9,4365; In the dimension of susceptibility in distance education, x̄= 6.0317 at a very low level; While their views on distance education are at a moderate level with an average of x̄= 41,7857, their happiness level is at a low level with x̄= 22,9504 There is a significant difference between the opinions and happiness levels of the students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences towards internet-based distance education and the participants' age variable between the educational disposition and the Views on Distance Education Scale (p<0.05). In the gender variable , Views on Distance Education Scale and in all its subdimensions; In the classroom variable, Views on Distance Education Scale and in all its subdimentions; In the department variable, Views on Distance Education Scale and in all its subdimentions; In the Oxford Happiness Scale in the income variable spent daily on the internet, in the dimensions of teaching in distance education; In the variant of having internet problems, in the dimensions of Opinions towards Distance Education and personal suitability, effectiveness and teaching anf Oxford Happiness Scale; In the satisfaction of distance education variable, the Views on Distance Education Scale and in the dimensions of personal suitability, effectiveness and teaching and in the Oxford Happiness Scale; It was found that there was a statistically significant difference in the Willingness to participate in distance education variable in the future, in the Views on Distance Education Scale and in the dimensions of personal suitability, effectiveness and teaching, and in the Oxford Happiness Scale.
