Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study aims to examine the effect of music in sports activities on students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences according to various variables. The study will investigate the impact of music on sports activities based on different variables such as gender, age, type of sport practiced, duration of athletic experience, type of music listened to, and the intensity of the music. Method: The population of the study consists of students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences at İnönü University in Malatya. The sample includes a total of 224 students, comprising 130 males and 94 females, studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences at İnönü in Malatya. A questionnaire was developed for data collection, and the surveys were conducted both face-to-face. Statistical analyses were performed using the SPSS v26.0 statistical program, and parametric tests were applied. A t-test was used to analyze the variables of gender and type of sport practiced, while a one-way ANOVA test was applied for the variables of age, duration of athletic experience, type of music listened to, and music intensity. The significance level for data analysis was set at p<0.05. Findings The study found no significant differences in the effect of music in sports applications based on variables such as gender, age, type of sport practiced, or type of music listened to. However, participants who listened to Turkish folk music had higher averages in the sub-dimensions of motivation, psychological resilience, and performance. Additionally, individuals who listened to moderately intense music had higher average scores. Conclusion: When examining the effect of music in sports applications on students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences according to various variables, it was observed that variables such as gender, age, duration of athletic experience, and type of music listened to were not distinguishing factors. However, the higher average scores in the performance and motivation dimensions among participants who listened to Turkish folk music suggest that this type of music may enhance individuals' motivation and performance.
