Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the variables that affect the leadership and gender roles of students studying at the faculty of sports sciences and to examine the relationship between leadership and gender roles. In the 2021-2022 academic year, the relationship between the versatile leadership levels of the students at Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Sports Sciences and their gender roles, and the demographic factors that are thought to have an impact on this relationship have been discussed. The population of the research consists of students studying at Uludağ University Faculty of Sports Sciences. The sample of the study consists of 191 people who were determined according to the purposive sampling method, which is one of the non-random sampling methods. In the study, The Multidimensional Leadership Scale (ÇYLÖ) developed by Dursun et al.(2019), the Gender Roles Attitude Scale (TCRTÖ) developed by Zeyneloğlu (2008) and the Personal Information Form were used for data collection. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.00 program. In the analysis phase, independent samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance and tukey test were used. As a result of the study, it was seen that the gender roles of the students studying at the Department of Physical Education and Coaching Education in the Faculty of Sport Sciences differ according to their gender, their level of interest in sports and the department they study at whereas their leadership characteristics differ according to the number of siblings they have, their gender and level of interest in sports. However, the variables such as the person directing them to sports, their grade level, the number of siblings they have, their active involvement in sports, types of sports and family types were found to have no effect on attitudes towards gender roles. Also, it was observed that the variables such as the person directing them to sports, the status of being actively involved in sports, the type of sport, family type and the department they study at and their grade level did not affect the leadership characteristics. In the dimension of the relationship between gender roles and leadership, as individuals' level of having egalitarian gender roles increases, the level of having a human-based leadership approach increases compared to other leadership styles. As individuals' level of having gender roles in marriage, having traditional gender roles, and having male gender roles increases, the level of having a human-based leadership understanding also increases. However, there is a negative correlation between gender role attitude in marriage and charismatic leadership and political leadership.
