Investigation of sports high school students' attitudes towardsdigital technology

It is a fact that technology makes every area of life easy nowadays. It is important for our country's sports that trainers, supervisors, athletes and students in the sport fields are aware of this fact and adapt to the developing technology . Sports High School students training the sports people who will take part in many sport duties in the future in various provinces of our country, should develop digital technology awareness and improve it in a positive way. In addition, identifying the frequency and levels of digital technology usage of Sports High School students will guide in making necessary regulations. Therefore, the research aimed to determine the sports high school students' attitudes towards technology in Turkey. While the research population consists of the students studying in Sports High Schools, the sample group consists of totally 2215 students studying in 11 provinces and 14 sports high schools in 6 regions of Turkey throughout 2018-2019 academic year, including 1564 men and 651 women. In the study, ''Attitude Scale towards Digital Technology'' (DTYTÖ) in the type of 5 point likert scale consisting of 39 items with 8 factors developed by Cabı (2016) and ''Personal Information Form'' with 18 items formed by the researcher were used as data collection tools. In this research, general scanning model, which is one of the descriptive research models, was used. Based on the DTYTÖ point average of sports high school students, It was discovered that they have medium level attitude towards digital technology and there are significant differences in the sub-dimensions of the scale. According to these differences, it was observed that the attitude towards technology of male students was higher than female students, the attitude towards technology increased as the family income level increased, and the attitude towards technology decreased as the number of siblings increased. It was concluded that the attitude of the students who took a technology education was higher than the students who did not have a technology education, the attitude of students who had a computer was higher than those who did not have computer, and the attitude of students who had a smartphone was higher than those of students who did not have a smartphone. It was discovered that as the time of computer and internet usage increases, the attitude towards technology increases in the same direction; the point averages of students who are licensed athletes are higher than those of who aren't licensed athletes; sports high school students use digital technology for the purpose of entering social media the most but use for the purpose of studying the least.
