Özet (EN)

This study aims to determine the leadership orientations and communication skills of high school students who are involved in sports and high school students who are not interested in sports. The population of the study consists of high school students studying in Ankara province and the sample consists of 630 high school students studying in schools such as Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Anatolian High School and Multi-Programmed Anatolian High School and included in the study by convenience sampling method. In the study, data were collected by questionnaire method, independent sample t test was applied to determine the differences between two independent groups in order to determine whether there is a significant difference between two independent groups in the analysis of the collected data, and one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) was used to examine significant differences between more than two groups. The results obtained within the scope of the study show that the multidimensional leadership orientation and communication skills levels of the students differ significantly according to their sporting status and that the multidimensional leadership orientation and communication skills levels of the students who do sport are higher than those who do not. The study also revealed a positive and significant relationship between multidimensional leadership orientations and communication skills level, and it was determined that multidimensional leadership orientations affect the level of communication skills. In general, the majority of the literature supports the findings of the current study and suggests that leaders who exhibit multidimensional leadership orientations tend to have stronger communication skills, but it is important to note that the relationship between these two constructs can be influenced by a variety of contextual and individual factors and that further research is needed to fully understand the nuances and boundary conditions of this relationship. Considering the positive impact of sport in developing students' leadership and communication skills, sport activities in schools can be further encouraged and supported. In addition, activities and programmes to enhance leadership and communication skills can be integrated into the educational curriculum.
