The examination of the positive social and aggressive behaviors and attitudes towards school students who do and do not do sports

Objective: The purpose of this research; the positive social and aggressive behaviors and attitudes towards the school of the high school students who do and do not do sports differ in terms of gender and academic achievement variables and to examine the relationship between positively social and aggressive behaviors of sportsmen and non-sports high school students and their attitudes towards the school. Method: The research was carried out on a total of 400 students, 195 of whom were girls and 205 were males, who attended two different high schools in Antalya (Muratpaşa Anatolian High School and the 75th year Republican Anatolian High School) in 2017-2018 academic year. In the study, purposive sampling method was used from non-random sample types. In this study, "Personal Information Form", "Prosocial and Aggressive Behaviors Scale" and "Attitude Toward School Scale" were used prepared by the researchers. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS 18 program. Independent sample t-test and Kruskal-Wallis test were used for binary comparison, One Way ANOVA test and Mann Whitney-U test were used in multiple comparisons and Pearson correlation coefficient in relation between variables. Results: According to the results of the research, a significant difference was found in the positive social and aggressive behaviors of high school students and attitudes towards the students, according to the sporting situation and the academic achievement variable (p<.05). Students with higher academic achievement perception have lower levels of aggression and higher levels of positive social behavior than low-level students. A positive relationship was found between positive social behaviors of the high school students who did and did not do sports and attitudes towards the school, negative social attitudes and attitudes towards the school and aggression levels.
