Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to research the impacting level offatique on visual intelligence of sportmen and sedanters. Activesportmen attending to Atatürk University and sedanter students, whohave not practiced any sports and exercise, at the age of 18?25,attending to the Faculties and High Schools in the same University wereincluded in this study. After the protocol explained to the subjects in thestudy, their lung volume capacities were measured by Pony Spirometry( Cosmed S.r.l.), and the subjects were performed shuttle run in 6-person groups. Their MaxVO2 scores were determined, after they weremade to rest for ten minutes, Cattel Visual Intelligence test was appliedto them. After the test was completed, the reaction time tests of thesubjects was applied and determined by a simple reaction- timemeasurement test developed by Davis and Fang (1993 ). The sametests were repeated in resting situation 5 months later. From the findings, a significant difference was foundamong the scores of Cattel and reaction time of male subjects beforeand after fatique ( p<0.01). A significant difference was found among thevalues of Cattel and reaction time of female subjects before and afterfatique ( p<0.01). In comparison of 1st and 2nd test values of male andfemale athletes with sedanters, a significant difference was found inCattel values before and after fatique ( p<0.01). Regardful of thedifferences of Cattel tests between genders, a significant difference wasfound ( p<0.01). In comparison of the values of both genders, thedifference between sedanters and male and female athletes wassignificant. In addition, from the differences of Cattel test scores beforeand after fatique, the female subjects were statistically better than themales.Consequently, the results indicated that fatique effectedvisual intelligence of male and female athletes less than sedanters. Asignificant relationship between Cattel scores and lung volume wasfound in sportmen subjects. In fatique period, visual intelligence of maleand female athletes were better than sedanters and this advantege ishigher in female athletes than males athletes.
