Discussions on religion state and politics in the journals of Sırat al-Mustaqim and Sabil al-Rashad

This study aims to understand and explain how the discussions on theeve of foundation of the Republic including religion and government relationsaffect our present time and what are by studying them in their own context.Teh journals which were published as Sırat al-Mustaqim at first andSabil al-Rashad later are the main source of our study. Examining thegovernment, religion and politics discussions included in the numbers of thepublishment of journals between 1911 and 1924 years has a big importanceto understand the last period of Otoman Empire and the foundation period ofTurkish Republic and also to clarify our present time within this.In the first part of our study the meaning fields of religions, governmentand politics concepts are presented to form a ground to our research. Theplace of religion, government and the politics in Islam, the reflection of thechanging paradigms to Islam and their effects to religion, government, politicsrelations have been studied within the aim to introduce religion andgovernment relation model in Islam world briefly. Also within this context, themovements of Advocateness of Otoman, Pan-Islam, Turkism andWesternism have been tried to study.In the second port of the thesis which is the last part, it has beenstudied to reveal the religion-government-politics discussions that took placein Sırat al-Mustaqim journal at first, and Sabil al-Rashad journal later.
