ABSTRACT MSc THESIS SIMULATION OF THE STANDARD j MODEL HIGGS BOSON ll Deniz SUNAR DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS INSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES UNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVA Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Ayşe POLATÖZ Year: 2002, Pages: 80 Jury : Prof. Dr. Ayşe POLATÖZ : Prof. Dr. Gülsen ÖNENGÜT : Doç. Dr. Sefa ERTÜRK CMS detector at CERN will run to search the details of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs mechanism which is exploited by spontaneous symmetry breaking and to observe the Higgs boson in 2007. In this thesis, the properties of production and decay channels of Higgs boson are summarised and also some recent simulation studies are reviewed for several decay channels. By using the results obtained by the simulation studies some predictions are also given for the channels in which Higgs can be observed and the branching ratios of these channels (BR), Higgs mass (/«#) and luminosity (L) were predicted.
