Diagnosis of Staphylococcus aureus and sensitivity to some antibiotics (lincomycin and clindamycin) and natural products (zelanicum and mentha piperita)

Abstract (EN)
Urinary tract infections caused by harmful bacteria, especially Staphylococcus aureus, have become a common disease. Therefore, it is necessary to treat this disease with plant extracts, reduce its spread and reduce the use of antibiotics in order to establish resistance to many antibiotics, as well as to compare the efficacy of plant extracts and to determine which one gives the strongest activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This topic was chosen because of its increasing prevalence, especially among women, and the study was conducted at the Faculty of Education of Tikrit University. The primary and main purpose of the study is to test five types of antibiotics on Staphylococcus aureus and to determine how the bacteria will show sensitivity to each of these antibiotics. The incidence of urinary tract infections caused by staphylococcal bacteria was higher in women, and the infection rate was 65.5% in women and 34.5% in men. In addition, urine samples were taken from people who had not received antibiotic treatment. Clindamycin and lincomycin antibiotics showed higher percentages of susceptibility to S. aureus (Oxacillin, Cefoxin and Penicillin) than other antibiotics, in addition, herbal extracts such as cinnamon and peppermint gave higher percentages of susceptibility to S. aerus bacteria. In addition, when the aqueous and alcoholic extracts of both peppermint and cinnamon extracts were compared, it was determined that the aqueous extract was more effective against S. aerus bacteria than the alcoholic extract. Because both mint and cinnamon extract contain many active ingredients to destroy harmful bacteria and the ratios of these active ingredients were calculated in the HPLC device. The inhibition series showed that for some antibiotics the plant extracts had larger inhibition diameters, meaning that the plant extracts gave stronger and better efficacy. The highest inhibition results were obtained from aqueous cinnamon extract with inhibition diameters ranging from 24-29 mm.
