The impact on the creativity and self-educational skills of student education teacher candidates

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to examine the effects of STEM education on science teachers 'creativity and self-regulation skills, and to see teacher candidates' views on STEM education. Erzincan University, Faculty of Education, Science Education Group, which is working in the research, constitutes 32 teacher candidates who are studying in the third grade. In the study, mixed model method is used which is a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The "How Much Creator's Survey" developed by Whetton and Cameron (2002) and adapted to Turkish by Aksoy (2004), Brown et al. (1999) developed the "Self-Organizing Scale" adapted to the Turkic language by Aydın (2012) and created the means of collecting the data of the interview form survey consisting of eight semi-structured interview questions. In order to determine the qualifications related to self-regulation and creativity before and after the training given by the teacher candidates, content analysis techniques were used to determine the difference between the means (t-test) method and the teacher candidates' perceptions. As a result of the research, it was seen that STEM education practices had positive effects on teacher candidates' creativity and self-regulation skills.
