Abstract (EN)

In this study, copolymers having various styrene (ST) with N-izopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and gylcidyl methacrylate (GMA) contents were prepared in 1,4-dioxane solvent using 1%AIBN as initiator at 70 oC with the conversions below of 10%. The FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and Raman spectra of the copolymers are discussed. The copolymer composition were determined by elemental analysis and 1H-NMR spectra. Monomer reactivity ratios were calculated both Finemann-Ross (F-R) and Kalen-Tüdös (K-T) methods, and a nonlinear error invariable model method with the computer program RREVM. The higher r1 value of GMA confirms the higher reactivity of GMA than of ST. For ST/GMA copolymer system, the copolymer sequence will be of alternating nature with more GMA units. The r1 value of ST is ≥ 1 and the r2 value of NIPAM is ≥ 1. For ST/NIPAM copolymer system, the copolymer sequence will be of block natüre. The thermal stabilities were studied by TGA. Copolymers show a high thermal stability which increases with increasing styrene unit content in copolymers.
