Abstract (EN)
In this study, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia is examined and a solution is proposed, based on the Strategic-Dialogue Model, which is one of the theoretical models in the sub-discipline of Conflict Management. Firstly, in this study, the conceptual framework such as Conflict and Conflict Resolution and Strategic-Dialogue Model are explained. Furthermore, case studies which are examined with the existing model are mentioned. With the disintegration of the USSR after the Cold War, the Nagorno-Karabakh-based conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which has become visible as many conflicts in the Caucasus that have remained invisible, are analysed in the second stage, applying the principles of the Strategic-Dialogue Model. As a third step, a solution is proposed for the conflict that has been analysed and exposed in full detail. This solution contents not only the visible sides of the conflict but rather all the invisible, psychological and political causes of the conflict. When the studies on Nagorno-Karabakh are examined, it is seen that either the views of the parties are summarized, their historical development is explained or the negotiations held during the OSCE are explained. However, in this study, a comprehensive thesis proposal is presented using the Strategic-Dialogue Model. In this way, the contribution of the study to science is provided. The Strategic-Dialogue Model constitutes the conceptual framework of the study. In this model, the problem is firstly defined. In order to identify an existing problem, background analysis is performed to help bring out all its causes. In the background analysis, after presenting the current situation of the conflict and the situation of the environment comprehensively, actor analysis is performed to examine the parties, directly and indirectly, involved in the conflict. The desired strategic objectives are then listed to end the conflict. Finally, the steps to be taken to realize these objectives are stated.
