Strategic innovation orientation, innovation capabilities and innovation performance relationship

With the rapid development of technology in the globalized world, competition among companies has increased. Increasing competitive environment is forcing enterprises to innovate with R&D studies in order to sustain their lives. Innovation in the world is considered as a means of sustainable growth and opens new business doors to enterprises and provides a productive and dynamic working environment. In this context, the aim of this study is to determine the interactions between innovation capabilities, strategic innovation orientation and innovation performance of companies that have R&D activities or who have received R&D support from outside. A questionnaire was applied to 76 respondents from companies with R&D activities to realize these goals. Correlation and regression analyses were used to test the relationships among variables. R&D capability, organization capability and strategic planning capability had positive and significant impact on innovation performance. Additionally, strategic innovation orientation had a positive significant impact on innovation performance. A positive and significant relationship was also found between strategic innovation orientation and innovation abilities. With these results, the role of innovation in the development, growth, existence of the competition, to provide benefit in the competitive environment and to be the leader in the sector has been revealed.
