Abstract (EN)
It is expected that the quality of products must not be affected while environmentally friendly chemicals are being used for the leather industry due to mandatory environmental legislation. In the present study, water based patent finishing was used instead of solvent based patent finishing which is widely applied for upper leather. Patent finishing films with 1,367 cm2/second, 1,944 cm2/second, and 2,522 cm2/second viscosities were applied to the leather surfaces by roller coating machine with a standard finishing recipe, then leather samples were tested-analyzed in according to the related standards. Subsequent to the accelerated aging process, samples were tested for the tensile strength, elongation at break, flexibility, air permeability, rub fastness, heat resistance and water spotting tests of finishing films were also performed. Test results reveal that the patent film with 194.46cSt viscosity provided comparatively better results.
