Abstract (TR)

The study is based on the subjective listening tests conducted on 50 people, from three different categories of relation to sound recording: strong, medium and weak. In the listening tests, people's subjective preferences over the two selected stereo microphone configurations were tested on both headphone and loudspeaker listening situations. For audio examples, three different recordings that were done in three different rooms with varying amount of extra-musical noise and acoustical treatment; and with different types of sound source (music ensemble). Microphone configurations' placement and microphones' polar pattern characteristics are included in the discussion of results. The tests were conducted in three different rooms, each of them with varying: acoustical treatment, type of speakers and size. The varying factors in the selected rooms applied to speaker listening setups, as the headphone listening stayed the same since the headphones were the same in all different rooms. The results of the study showed that people preferred baffled microphone pair to near-coincident pair (DIN) on headphone listening setups; while on speaker listening, the ratio is around equal. Further discussion can be found in the presentation and on the thesis.
