Abstract (EN)
This thesis study was carried out to examine the relationships between subjective comfort evaluations and fabric characteristics that can be measured objectively, and also for purpose to evaluate properties associated with comfort of fabrics having different material and structural features. For this purpose, knitted and woven fabrics having different physical and structural properties were used and structural characteristics as fabric setting, fabric thickness, fabric unit weight and also air permeability, thermal resistance, water vapor resistance and the properties determine liquid moisture content and transfer capacity, were measured. The subjective assessments of wetness and coldness and skin surface temperature drop was obtained by using forearm test which is one of the subjective test methods used for comfort. In conclusion, relationships between all fabric properties measured objectively and data obtained as a result of subjective comfort evaluations was examined with graphical and statistical methods.According to the results of subjective evaluations, it was observed person?s wet and cold perceptions depend on fabric type and 100 % bamboo fabric causes the highest coldness and wetness perceptions amongst the other test fabrics. Another important finding is to obtain statistically significant relationships between various properties measured with MMT (Moisture Management Tester) and the measurement results obtained from dynamic sweating hotplate system in which thermal resistance and water vapor resistance measurements were carried out.
