Abstract (EN)
Crime is a dynamic and multidimensional fact. One of these dimensions is geography. Designing a space is a contributing factor to crime levels. Theories that have been gone through in the world say that space provides something common for crime and criminals. Is it also valid for Nilufer? If it is, to which extend? If not, why? What are the geographical factors that prevent or increase crime? Answers to these questions were sought. Considering land use planning of Nilufer County, in the light of theories and data gathered from Nilufer Police and Gendarmerie, peculiarities and dispersion of the crimes that occurred in Nilufer were examined. Outcomes reached via analyses put forward that there are "crime hills" ( crimes abound) and crime plains (crimes are scarce). The reasons for these were searched. As the subject also relates to criminology, studies in this field were also exploited. First, second, third and fourth (last) degree crimes in Nilufer were shown by graphics, maps and tables. Depending on population, urbanization and land using, it was shown in the study that on which neighborhoods crime concentrates. Using different places for different crimes and picking up places according to the crimes suggest that physical environment and human factors affect criminality. As well as bars, discos, crowded places, abandoned buildings and vehicles, fenceless and unprotected areas were taken as physical environments. However, land using, demographical formation, living and working conditions of the people also affect crime. The subject was explained in view of recognized theories. On the other side, it must be admitted that the theories to be dealt with are not sufficient to enlighten Nilufer's crime issue. Since man is a social creature, reasons to crime cannot always be the same. In addition to geographical ones, crime has sociological, pschycological, economic and anthropological reasons too. Be that as it may, the subject was handled in the light of geography with an interdisciplinary approach.
