Abstract (EN)

Süheyl b. Amr was one of the prominent figures of Mecca. Renowned as an orator and diplomat, Süheyl embraced Islam following the conquest of Mecca. Prior to his conversion, he was among those who opposed the monotheistic teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). As ha wealthy individual, he actively supported military campaigns financially and participated in them personally, Süheyl represented the Quraysh polytheists in signing the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and increasingly gained influence in Meccan governance. After the passing of the Prophet, during the period of apostasy (ridda), Süheyl made significant efforts to encourage people to remain steadfast in Islam. Following his conversion, he became know for his devotion to worship and resolved to dedicate both his wealth and life to the cause of Allah through jihad. Süheyl b. Amr strove to spread the light and banner of Islam wherever he went. He passed away during the Amwas plague in the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab.
