Suhrawardî as a Muhaddith, Takhrij, critisizm and assessment of Hadithts in Avârifu'l-Meârif

Our author Sihabuddîn Suhrawardî born in h. 539 was a well known Sofi, exegiter and muhaddith. We have focused on this study on his masterpiece Avârifu'l-Meârif and the 586 hadiths in it and thereby to know his qualities as muhaddith. Suhrawardî is more known as the founder of a tariqat but unfortunately as a muhaddith he is not as well known. With this study, it is clearly seen that Suhrawardî is a valid muhaddith. All of the 586 marfu narrations we have identified in Avârif was scanned in the program Shamila and thus determine there places in our sources. All efforts have been made to show the first source of all narrations. The majority of the narrations were determined in Kutub tis'a, some weak and fabricated narratives were found in tafsir or in sufism books. Our study consists of three parts. In the first chapter, Suhrawardî's life, his science and his work were briefly discussed. In the second chapter, his qualities as muhaddith has been shown. In the third chapter takhrij and evaluation of the marfu narrations mentioned in Avârifu'l-Meârif were made.
