The theme of this research is the relation between gay men?s expression of sexual identity and space. During the first part of research, the expression of sexual identity of gay men according to space in İstanbul is studied. First, space is considered as interactional space where people interact to one another. Second, space is considered as concrete urban space such as gay cafés, bars and clubs. During the second part of research, the focal point is gay bars and clubs. The relationship that gay men maintain with these urban spaces, the importance of these spaces in the construction of sexual identity, the reflections of inclusions and exclusions to these bars and clubs are examined. Moreover, the social distinctions based on class and gender identity between these places are investigated and the homogeneity of gay community is interrogated.
