Abstract (EN)
The lands of Akkoyunlu Turkmens, who existed in the 15th century, cover a wide area including Eastern Anatolia, Azerbaijan and Iran. At the time, when the Akkoyunlu state was in existence, a rich artistic structure was dominant in the Middle East. By preserving this cultural environment they inherited, the Akkoyunlu people protected the great artists of the period in Tabriz and Shiraz, and ensured the production of manuscripts with high level illumination and miniatures. In the works produced, although there are traces of Timurid and Celayir art accumulations, they maintained the stylistic features created by the Karakoyunlu Turkmens that existed before them and revealed their own style. In addition, due to their location, they had a political interaction with the Ottomans, which was reflected in Ottoman art. The sovereignty of the Akkoyunlu state was ended by the Safavids. However, the stylistic features of the Akkoyunlu people continued to be seen in Safavid works for a while. The contribution of the Akkoyunlu period to the style that entered the literature as the Turkmen style is an undeniable reality. Examining the manuscripts and their decorations produced in the period yields great significance in further clarifying the style. Therefore, it was deemed appropriate to examine the decoration of the divan number Ayasofya-3946, which was produced in the Akkoyunlu period. First of all, information about the brief history and art environment of the Akkoyunlu state, which contributed to the emergence of the work, was given. In the catalog section, the decorated pages of the work were drawn and analyzed by examining the composition, motif features and the colors that were used. In the evaluation section, the work is discussed in terms of its similarities with the works produced in the more recent periods. The similarities with the Ottoman and Safavid work, which were influenced by the Akkoyunlu Turkmen style, were attempted to be examined. As a result, it is aimed that the study will contribute to the understanding of the illuminated manuscripts of the Akkoyunlu Turkmen period. Analyzing these manuscripts of the Akkoyunlu Turkmen period as the subject of more research will be an important step in a better understanding of them.
