The Armanian Question In The Ottoman-İranian political relations In The Periot Of Sultan Abdulhamid II (1896-1907)

Political rivalries between the Ottoman Empire and the states established in Iran were witnessed throughout the history. These rivalries have generally taken place over the issues like the sectarian differences, border violations and the situation of the pilgrims traveling to the holy lands. However, the support provided by the Qajar Dynasty to the Armenian guerillas after the Nasser-al-Din Shah?s ascension to the Iranian throne were added to these problems. During the era of Mozaffar al-Din Shah, Armenian Incidents were always on the agenda as one of the fundamental problems between the two countries. Our aim to undertake this dissertation study is to try to explain the situation briefly narrated above through using archival resources.The topic of our dissertation is constituted by the reason of the Qajars? support to the Armenian Incidents, the methods employed by the Qajars in the incidents caused by the Armenians in Anatolia, the measures taken by the Ottomans against the Qajars and the kind of policy followed by the Ottomans.In the introduction chapter, the historical process of the Armenian Incidents was briefly mentioned and main lines of our study was provided.In the first chapter, the reasons of the Qajars? support to the Armenians were examined and the events taken place in the era of Nasser-al-Din Shah were narrated.In the second chapter, the Armenian incidents taken place in Anatolia following Mozaffar al-Din Shah?s ascension to the throne were narrated and the methods employed by the Qajars to provide aid to the Armenians were shown with their examples.
