Özet (EN)

Pharmaceutically active compounds are increasing in different environmental environments such as surface waters, groundwater and soil. Paracetamol is a pharmaceutical substance used as an analgesic and antipyretic agent. In this study, the removal of paracetamol by using manganese oxide (OMS-2) and persulfate was investigated. Effect of reaction temperature, pH, OMS-2, persulfate amount and initial paracetamol concentration, free radical quenching studies, stability of OMS-2 catalyst, effect of humic acid and inorganic anions and characterization of synthesized OMS-2 were investigated. In the first phase of the study, OMS-2 was produced in the laboratory, then only OMS-2, only the persulfate and OMS-2/PS combination were investigated for the removal of paracetamol. When 5 mM persulphate and 0.1 g/L OMS-2 were used, the paracetamol removal efficiency increased to 99.0%. The use of OMS-2 with persulphate resulted in faster and more efficient removal of paracetamol compared to OMS-2 and persulfate only. In another phase of the study, the effect of the reaction temperature and pH were investigated. For this purpose, pH was changed in the range of 2-8 and the temperature was examined at 20, 30 and 40 ° C. Paracetamol removal was high at all pHs and temperature values tested. Paracetamol removal at different OMS-2 and persulfate concentrations was examined, the optimum OMS-2 amount was determined as 0.1 g/L and the optimum persulfate dosage was 20 mM. The stability of the OMS-2 catalyst was investigated and a decrease in paracetamol removal over time was observed. In the later stages of the study, free radical quenching studies, the effect of humic acid and inorganic anions and the characterization of synthesized OMS-2 were investigated.
