Sünbül Efendi Lodge and Muharram events

In this study, the events of Muharram in the Sünbül Efendi Lodge were discussed. Muharram has an important position in all Muslim societies. But it is known that it has different reflections in every community. In our country, the month of Muharram is mostly attributed to the Alevi-qualified hearths and groups and the members of the Imamiyya Shia/Jafaris. In this context, it is seen that the fire and groups belonging to the Alevi tradition are wrongly considered within the Imamiyya Shia. The aim of this study is to reveal the activities carried out in the Sünbül Efendi Lodge on the occasion of Muharram. The fact that joint activities were carried out with the participation of members of different Sufi schools during the Ottoman Period and that the traditional practices in question were tried to be continued in the activities carried out today reveal the importance of identifying them. The hypothesis of the study is that the activities carried out due to the month of Muharram do not only belong to the Alevi hearth and groups and the groups belonging to the Imâmiyya; It is an area of activity that is especially important among other Sufi schools; The understanding and practices of the Alevi hearths and groups are not related to the Imamiyya Shia; rather, they are similar or homogeneous or the same as those in other Sufi schools. In this respect, in this study, the development process of Sünbülî and Tekke and the examination of the activities; By revealing the importance and historical process of the month of Muharram in the history of Islam, it is aimed to deal with some worships and practices such as fasting, mourning, and ashura performed on the occasion of Muharram from past to present, and to examine the practices carried out on the occasion of Muharram in the Sünbül Efendi Lodge. In the research carried out by following the qualitative research method, the data obtained by the literature review and video analysis technique were analyzed and the research subjects were tried to be revealed. The activities carried out in the Sünbül Efendi Lodge reveal that it is wrong to attribute Muharrem activities only to the groups and groups belonging to the Imamiyya Shia and Alevi tradition. The Muharram practices in the Sünbül Efendi Lodge are different from the practices in the groups belonging to the Imamiyya Shia in our country; however, it has been determined that it is almost the same as the practices existing in Anatolia, both in other Sufi schools and in Alevi hearths and groups. iv Keywords: Sünbül Efendi, Sünbül Efendi Lodge, Muharram, Tenth/Aşura Day, Fasting, Grief/Mourning, Ashura.
