The role of vocational and technical education in achieving sustainable development goals

The main purpose of this research is to determine the role of vocational and technical education in the implementation of SKA. The study group consists of 18 technical teachers and school administrators working in Kırşehir province. A "personal information form" and a "semi-structured interview form" developed by the researcher were used to collect the data. As a result of the analysis of the obtained data, 4 themes emerged: "current status, applicability and accessibility, sustainability and education". In the research findings, teachers and administrators stated that the success of students in vocational high schools was low and that quality education could not be provided. Teachers and administrators stated that if the necessary infrastructure and information about SKAs were provided, it would be applicable and accessible. Teachers and administrators stated that vocational education contributed to economic growth, that students had the opportunity for practical education, that it provided skills before working life, and that this situation contributed to the training of productive intermediate manpower, increased employment and economic growth. In addition, they stated that the contribution to economic growth would increase if school-sector harmony was improved. They stated that although students lack capital, experience and self-confidence, if they are willing and trained with qualifications, their entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation skills will develop. Teachers stated that in some areas, the inadequacy of physical facilities makes the implementation of the program difficult. Keywords: Sustainable development, vocational and technical education
