Abstract (EN)
The phrase 'sustainable consumption was entered to the terminology with the Rio World Conference in 1992. The influence of consumers' lifestyles, social settings, consumption trends, technology, old habits geography and even global and social events on sustainable consumption behaviors are all being investigated. Furthermore, consumption studies provide important clues to businesses and policymakers on the path to sustainability. In this study, the behaviors of consumers on sustainable consumption and environmental awareness were examined by conducting online surveys with 400 participants in Bursa. Survey data were evaluated using percentage values and chi-square analysis. The purpose of this study is to determine consumers' sustainable consumption habits and to contribute to the solution of environmental and waste issues. According to the survey's findings, there is a significant relationship between the consumers' ages and the stores where they shop, as well as their income levels and the reasons for wasting food. While 72, 2% of the respondents preferred to do their food shopping in the markets, 10, 25% stated that they did it online. It was determined that 85, 36% of those who shopped for food online were between the ages of 18-39. While 30.25% of the foodstuffs are wasted due to not being consumed and taken in excess, 40% is wasted due to spoilage. While 7, 5% of the households do not take any measures against food waste, 41, 5% think that the measures they take are not sufficient. According to the results of the survey, the most wasted bread and bakery products were found to be 27 %. Based on the data obtained, it is necessary to carry out studies to increase consumer awareness, and to take effective measures especially to prevent food waste.
