Abstract (EN)

With the Industrial Revolution, while the rate of concretization increases in cities, natural resources are rapidly depleted due to reasons such as housing construction and road construction. Knowing that limited natural resources will run out one day, an environmentally compatible sustainability policy has come to the fore in order to ensure its continuity and be a solution. In the new urbanization concept, the use of a non-motorized transportation system, reducing waste consumption, and using renewable energy sources are important for ensuring the sustainable development of cities. In the study, the concept of university campus is discussed. Amasya University Hâkimiyet Campus, located within the borders of the central district of Amasya province, was chosen as the study area. The aim of the study is to determine whether the plant species selection is correct according to the light-shadow-water demands of the plants used in the green areas of the campus, in line with the length of the shadow period created by the education and administrative buildings on the green areas of the Hâkimiyet Campus, and to determine the contribution of the campuses to the ecological sustainability and the urban ecosystem. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted on sustainability and sustainable campus issues. With the field studies carried out at different times of the year, the plant species found in the campus were determined and photographs were taken from different angles. 3 educational buildings and 3 administrative buildings in the Hâkimiyet Campus were modeled in 3D with procedural modeling techniques, using CityEngine software. The 3D campus model was transferred to the Sketchup Pro 2019 and 3D shadow analysis was performed according to different months of the year. In the light of the findings, it is seen that the shadow periods created by the buildings in the Hâkimiyet Campus are longer in December and January, and less in June and July. As part of the findings, recommendations were made to ensure the ecological sustainability of the campus. It has been determined that the evergreen trees, shrubs and shrub groups located between the elevations of 392-400 m.-410-420 m. in the campus are not adversely affected by the shadow period created by the buildings, and the plant taxa located in the vicinity of the building between the elevations of 400-410 m. are negatively affected by the shadow duration of the buildings. In order to ensure ecological sustainability in the campus, natural and exotic new plant taxa compatible with the urban climate have been proposed.
