The objective of the study called "Importance of the cold chainin sustainability and a research" is underlining the importance of creating cold chain with regards to sustainability and to research the matter of whether cold chain procedures of which the effectiveness has been increased through tracking, inspection, quality and environmental systems affect the customer value or not and whether they ensure sustainable competitive advantage to the enterprise or not. In conclusion of the study, it is confirmed that deficiencies in cold chain processes causes economic losses and we came to the conclusion that efficient and effective management of cold chain ensures a sustainable competitive advantage to enterprise by increasing client value due to the improvement it makes on quality of product. Cold chain practices are not exclusively under responsibility of producing enterprises. Participation of independent retailers taking place along distribution channel in cold chain practices with due diligence is also indispensable. In case of failure of this participation, interruptions occur in cold chain practices and these interruptions cause losses and client dissatisfaction in cold chain practices.
