Socio-economic analysis of immigrants migrating from Syria to Adana Province

Abstract (EN)

Throughout the history of humanity, migration have come to the national-international scene many times due to political, economic, religious, ethnic reasons. The phenomenon of immigration is one of the most important and unchanging facts of the World and Turkey as well. Rapid migration has constantly been seen in Turkey due to different reasons. Especially due to civil warfare, many migration movements from Syria to Turkey have been realized. Adana is the province of Turkey which experiences intense migration from Syria. For this purpose, the socio-economic analysis of migration movements in Turkey is made at the scale of Syrian immigrants living in Adana. In the study, conceptual and theoretical explanations and related research studies are performed with the survey questionnaires that consist of 25 questions filled out by 400 Syrian immigrants living in different neighborhoods of Adana. Frequency and percentage distribution tables are prepared by the data collected from the survey and evaluated on through the SPSS program. The relationship between demographic and socio-economic characteristics of immigrants and migratory mobility was analyzed by these tables and SPSS Crosstab. As a result of the research, it is found that there is a significant relationship between demographic, social and economic factors which are gender, age, preference of migrated place and migratory mobility.
