A qualitative research on the effect of immigration from Syria to Turkey on the health of women: The case of Istanbul

Although migration has many different effects on human life, one of the most devastating effects is that it paves the way for immigrants' health problems. The subject of this thesis is to investigate the negative effects of the problems faced by Syrian refugee women between the ages of 18-50 during and after the migration process on their health. This thesis study is to create a general perspective on the health problems of migrant women by conducting a research on the health problems experienced by migrant women before, during and after migration. In this context, it is aimed to propose solutions to the problems experienced. Within the scope of this study, 40 female refugees from Syria were interviewed. Interpretive epistemology and feminist methodology Following the in-depth interview technique, interviews were analyzed in three main sections in the thesis. As a result, in line with the answers given by the forty women who participated in the study, it was determined that although migration has devastating effects in the absolute process, the living conditions and geographical conditions of the migrated country also pave the way for certain health problems. Participants stated that the biggest impact of migration was on their mental health.
