Israel's policy in The Syrian civil war

Towards the end of 2010, in the scope of the popular uprisings that began with a peddler burned himself in Tunisia, then that spread to Egypt, Syria, Bahrain and Yemen respectively, Syria holds a significant place. The protests against the Assad regime, which began in March 2011, were transformed into a war between the opposition and the regime which is implemented directly and by proxy. The war has also been a scene in which terrorist organizations, regional and global actors has found a place. In the civil war which enters to eighth year, actors such as European Union (EU), United States of America (USA) and Turkey have taken a stand with opposition against the regime, while Russia, Iran and Hezbollah have supported the regime. Israel that Syria has encountered many times in the second half of the 20th century, has implemented a multiple policy with the involvement of local, regional and global actors to its policy during the war. In Syrian Civil War, Israel has constructed her policy upon preventing the strengthening of Iran, Syria and Lebanon which she defines as "axis of evil", averting the transfer of advanced missiles from Iran to Hezbollah, deferring the founding of permanent bases by the militias of Iran and Hezbollah near the border of Israel and Syria, and finally hindering the transfer of Russian modern weapons to Hezbollah and Iranian militants. Some of the Israeli policy elites have followed the policy of maintaining the Assad regime, which has been described as the "recognized enemy". They have wished that the weakness of the Syrian regime, which they had defeated in all of the wars, did not allow Iran to be deployed on the borders of Israel. This thesis evaluates the process that starts from Palestinian issue, which is the main source of the Syrian-Israeli relations, to United States President Donald Trump's recognition of Golan Heights as the land of Israel, and tries to determine the policy that has been implemented by Israel in Syria.
