Spatial distribution of Syrian Bayır-Bucak Turkmen in Yayladağı and socio-cultural analysis of the conditions

Migration, which has become one of the most current problems of recent years, appears as a problem in our country after the internal turmoil in Syria that started in 2011. Since 2011, nearly 4 million Syrians have come to our country and they have started to live in shelters and cities. This situation has caused housing, infrastructure, employment and socio-cultural adaptation problems in many border cities. In our studying subject, the spatial distribution and socio-cultural status of the Syrian Bayır-Bucak Turkmen in the Yayladağı district of Hatay province, where the southernmost point of Turkey is located, were analyzed in the SPSS 26 package program. It is important to process and analyze the data obtained through the surveys conducted during the research process. During the analysis, frequency and percentage analyzes were made. T-test and one-way variance (ANOVA) analyzes were used while evaluating. Within the scope of the study, the spatial distribution, together with the analysis in the SSPS 26 package program, the population data obtained from the official authorities were synthesized. Afterwards, the spatial distributions were processed on the map with the ArcGIS 10.3 program and the reasons for the distribution were interpreted. In this context, the findings of the analysis results of the questionnaire applied to 200 Bayır-Bucak Turkmen living in the city were interpreted. According to the findings obtained in this context; A significant part of Bayır-Bucak Turkmen living in Yayladağı thought of returning to their homeland in the first year they came, but they continued to live here because the war did not end. Half of the participants stated that they want to live in Syria in the future. Due to the insufficient employment in Yayladağı, it has emerged that Bayır-Bucak Turkmens work in daily jobs instead of permanent jobs. The common language culture of Bayır-Bucak Turkmens and Yayladağı people revealed that they did not have any problems in the place. The fact that the language culture is common and the place they live in is safe, according to the place they come from, has led to the conclusion that they will make future plans in Turkey and continue their lives. The fact that they think about living in this place reveals that socio-cultural harmony will be achieved over time without any problems.
