Abstract (EN)
Gender inequality points to the differences in roles and behaviors between men and women in societies. Societies, by dividing men and women on the basis of gender, position them unequally in different fields and status (primary, secondary). The woman, who is shown in the secondary position, is seen as suitable for the domestic space based on her biological structure and the meanings attributed to it, and is left behind or excluded from non-domestic spaces. At the same time, as making women sexually visible, they confronts social restrictions, violence, harassment, rape, etc. Correlatively, women are more exposed to these inequalities, especially in a traumatic phenomenon such as conflict and forced migration. Women can accept inequalities voluntarily or compulsorily in order to protect themselves under difficult conditions and to be protected against threats and dangers. Among those inequalities, oppression, limitation, restriction, sexual dangers, early marriages and polygamous marriages are gender-based inequalities. Accordingly, the aim of the study is to propound the inequalities between the genders in societies through a gender perspective, on the basis of the experiences of Syrian refugee women before migration, during the conflict environment, the migration process and the place they came from in accordance with the views and expressions of Turkish women on the subject.
