Abstract (EN)

Increasing population growth in recent decades has led to cities' uncontrolled expansion and rapid growth. This expansion created growth and development in which many of the necessary criteria and standards of sustainable growth and development were not observed for various reasons and caused difficulties in managing the city, unbalanced distribution of population and welfare services to citizens, and increased environmental problems and pollution in cities. On the other hand, progress and development affect all aspects of life every day. The ever-increasing advancement of technology, human relations, social and economic change, and quality of life all go hand in hand to bring us daily changes in the way people live, cities, and use of resources. The launch of sustainable smart cities is the origin of city managers for the optimal supply and use of urban services, which not only positively affects people's quality of life but is expected to solve many urban problems. In this thesis, an attempt has been made to explain the smart and sustainable city in detail by collecting and analyzing data. In addition, some smart and sustainable cities worldwide have been studied and compared for better understanding. Finally, people's awareness in relation to open green spaces specifically, and smart cities in general, in Iran has been examined. By distributing the questionnaire among the people, it is specifically focused on the issue of people's awareness as the most critical component of the smart city. The analysis of the answers shows the need to be more informed on sustainable smart cities among the people in Iran.
