Abstract (EN)
Coumarins are a class of heterocyclic organic compounds consisting of oxygen, naturally exist in plants. They can be isolated from plants or synthesized in the laboratory. Coumarins have been known for possessing various biological activities along with the application in cosmetic, perfume and agricultural industries. Schiff bases have become an essential class of chemical compounds that have been employed in both organic and inorganic chemistry. Schiff bases have been used as coloring agent and pigment as well as in pharmaceutical industry and as strong ligand due to the ability of forming complexes. In this study, ten novel coumarin derivatives based on Schiff base were designed and synthesized. The study examined the photophysical properties for the new compounds in three different solvents to detect emission frequencies, Stokes shifts and the effect of solvents.
