Semantic analysis of Surah Tâ-hâ

Words and their meanings are the basic building blocks of language. "Ilmu'd-delale", which is called "anlambilim" in Turkish focuses on the meanings of words. It is a branch of linguistics that contributes to the determination of the meaning of a word by examining it in many ways. In the West, this concept is equivalent to the concept of "semantics". Semantics; examines the link between objects and the words that correspond to those objects. Rather than evaluating a word with its mere meaning, it evaluates every aspect of the meaning given to the word, from the cultural point of view or to the changes it has undergone throughout history. One of the reasons for the emergence of these concepts is the desire to learn the languages of their religions as well as the desire of every society to learn their mother tongue. For this reason, in the period when the tafsir studies in Arabs began, the science of signification was especially emphasized. In the West, word-meaning studies which is associated with the concept of semantics were firstly associated with the concept of "semosiologie" by German linguist K. Reisig and then many names such as Breal, Trier, Ullmann, Guiraudd, Chomsky, Katz - Fodor conducted studies on this subject. In this study, semantics has been examined under the concept of "indication" in five parts as phonological, lexical, grammatical and sociological. In the continuation of the study, after examining each signification concept in itself, the science of "context", which has an important role in the science of tafsir, is discussed since the following parts of the thesis are associated with the science of tafsir. The importance of context has been emphasized in the meaning of the wording, and historical and social context has been emphasized. In the second part of the thesis, in order to provide a concrete example of the concept of "semantic", al-Kashshaf – Zamakhshari, Safwat al-Tafasir - Muhammed Ali Sabuni, Mukhtasar Ibn Kathir Tafsir - abu'l-Fida İsmail ibn-i Kathir, Tafsir Kebir Mefatih al-Gayb - Fakhraddin al Razi, the Surah Tâ-hâ has been examined and the words that are examples for the concept of signification have been identified and examined. In addition to this, dictionaries such as Fiyumi - Misbah Munir, Ibn Faris - Mujam Maqayis al-Lugha, ibn Jinni - al-Hasais, Javhari, es-Sıhah, were used to determine the meaning of the words during the research.
