Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, a reinforced concrete building model whose natural periods are increased is described. By reducing periods, story drift and shear forces, earthquake effect on the structure is minimized. The model built using seismic isolation systems to reduce destructive effect of seismic forces are investigated in this study. First of all, classification of isolation system is explained where different materials are combined under this session. In the following chapters, mechanical characteristics of these systems are explained then theoretical parts of the seismic isolation systems were explained thoroughly with code requirements for seismic isolated Structures. During the analysis Sap 2000 was used, a fixed-base structure and base isolated building of a 7 storey reinforced concrete structure have been designed. In this thesis, Lead rubber bearing was used. The codes regulations for Reinforced Concrete building used here is The 2018 Turkish Earthquake Codes. In the final section of the study analysis results comprsing floor displacemnts, natural periods, shear forses and floor accelerations were compared using tables and graphs. After the comparison of the results a solution and recommendations were prepared. The benefit and disadvantages of using isolation system in building structures located in seismic zones were briefed.
