The suitability of Tacettin Şimşek's works for the Turkish language curriculum and activity suggestions

In this research, it is aimed to examine Tacettin Şimşek's works in terms of suitability for the Turkish Language Curriculum and to create activity suggestions through these works. For this purpose, the author's ten (10) stories in the book "Yeşil Gözlü Kardan Adam" suitable for the age of 9-12 and sixty-two (62) poems in the book "Ilkyaz Tatili" were examined using document analysis in terms of root value, theme, subject, and content features and analyzed using the descriptive analysis. Based on the analyzed works, it has been determined that the author deals with the values of friendship, self-control, patience, respect, love, patriotism, and benevolence in his stories, while he deals with the value of love the most in his poems. It has also been found that Şimşek's stories are mostly related to the theme of Virtues, and his poems are related to the theme of Children's World. In addition, it has been revealed that the themes and topics covered in the texts can meet the interests and needs of child readers, are suitable for the level of children in terms of content features and have qualities that will contribute to the development of their language skills and enrichment of their imaginations. Based on the author's stories, examples of activities that can be used in primary school Turkish language courses are presented.
