Abstract (EN)
Poetry, as one of the oldest literary forms in human history, is not only a means of expressing individual emotions and thoughts but also an important artistic field that reflects the cultural accumulation, aesthetic understanding, and value systems of societies. The poems of Tacettin Şimşek draw attention as texts that deal with the emotional states of the individual, the connection established with the past, and the transformations brought by modern life. While the poet develops a sensitivity shaped around themes such as time, childhood, mother, loneliness, and love, he establishes a balance between individual experience and collective memory. In ŞİMŞEK’s poetry, elements of the traditional poetic heritage coexist with the simple and sincere expression of modern poetry.
Tacettin ŞİMŞEK is a versatile writer who has made significant contributions to the literary world not only in poetry but also in children’s literature, education, and various other genres. In this study titled “Tacettin ŞİMŞEK: His Life, Art and Works”, the poet’s life, literary personality, and poems are examined through a qualitative research method. The study consists of three main chapters. In the first chapter, Şimşek’s life, literary identity, and works are discussed, and the factors shaping his literary world are evaluated. In the second chapter, the prominent themes in his poetry—such as loneliness, love, longing, exile, and time—are analyzed. In the third chapter, his poems are examined in terms of language, style, imagery, and poetic structure.
Şimşek’s poetry stands out as a body of work that centers on the inner world of the individual and constructs a simple yet profound expression. His reinterpretation of the traditional poetic heritage through a modern discourse constitutes one of the defining characteristics of his poetic understanding. In this respect, his poems represent significant examples that reflect both individual sensitivity and cultural continuity.
