Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to determine dynamic postural control and the ability of the knee joint proprioception in active taekwondo atlethes and to examine the effects of 8-week training proprioception programme on knee joint proprioception and dynamic postural control. 13 male and 13 female to training group and 8 male and 8 female taekwondo atlethes to control group of 42 healthy taekwondo atlethes participating as volunteers and doing actively taekwondo were included to the study. The age, height, weight,BMI (kg/ m2 ) and sportsyears averages of the subjects of female experimental and control group were respectively; 20.92 ± 1.55 and 20.75 ± 1.66 years; 166.77 ± 8.36 and 165, 62 ± 7.59 cm, 56.69 ± 6.89 and 61.50 ± 7.27 kg, 20.36 ± 1.72 and 22.41 ± 2.40 kg/m2, 9.23 ± 2.31 and 6.00 ± 1.07 years. In male experimental and control group; age, height, weight, BMI (kg/ m2) and sportsyears averages were respectively; 20.23 ± 2.80 and 19.87 ± 2.29 years, 174.85 ± 6.97 and 173, 75 ± 5.06 cm, 62.80 ± 4.95 and 70.50 ± 14.55 kg; 20.58 ± 1.94 and 23.27 ± 4.17 kg/m2, 8.62 ± 2,56 and 6.23 ± 1.36 years. While the proprioception sense of measurements of subjects were analyzed by Multijoint System Biodex System 3 Pro isokinetic testing and exercise system device; dynamic postural control performances were analyzed by Bıodex marked device (Biodex,Inc.,Shirley,NewYork 950-302). The measurements were taken twice as before and after proprioception training programme being applied three times in a week and per week of 8.Package programme SPSS for Windows 15.0 was used in the evaluation of data statistically. While Mann-Whitney U test was used in the comparison of experimental and control groups before and after training programme, Wilcoxon test was used in the comparison of differences between pre-test and post-test.The results were evaluated at the expressiveness level of 0,05.Significant differences were observed in both dominant and nondominant knee joint 30°and 70° proprioception scores of experimental group of male and female taekwondo atlethes after the training programme was applied.(p< 0,05).On the other hand, it was observed that the control group didn?t show any significant differency in both dominant and non dominant knee joint of 30°and 70° proprioception scores (p> 0,05).At the results of training programme, it was determined that while dynamic postural control scores have higher performance in dominant and nondominant leg dynamic postural control tes of female taekwondo atlethes, no difference was seen in double-leg,dominant and nondominant legs of dynamic postural control scores of control group (p>0,05). While it was observed that double leg ,dominant and nondominant leg dynamic postural control scores of the experimental group of male taekwondo atlethes have significant difference (p< 0,05);post-test double leg, dominant and nondominant leg dynamic postural control scores of control group show no difference.(p>0,05).In conclusion,it was thought that proprioception training programme based on the detection of position sense improves knee joints proprioception and dynamic postural control performances.Key Words: Proprioception, Dynamic Postural Control, Taekwondo
