The effect of vestibular system exercises on balance and reaction time in taekwondo

Abstract (EN)

Aim: This study is carried out for examining the effect of Vestibular System Exercises on balance and reaction time in Taekwondo. Material and Method: The study includes 20 men and 20 women competitors who have license in Nusaybin Gençlik Spor Kulübü in the category of cadets and juniors.The athletes are divided into two groups as control group and experimental group. It is calculated the age,height, body weight and BMI indexes of the all participants and then flamingo balance,tandem stance,functional reach,tandem gait,VAS scoring, right and left tolyochagi,panda tolyochagi, spining tolyochagi tests are conducted. Following the first measurement and 12 weeks of training, the vestibular system exercises training program is conducted to the experimental group. In this process, the control group only continues their taekwondo training. Results: According to the results of the study, while it is not found any significant differences on balance parameters and taekwondo parameters of control group in the process of 12 weeks of training, it is detected significant difference on experimental group.However, any significant differences are not detected in the both groups on tandem stance test. Conclusion: As a result, it is detected that the vestibular system exercises do not have any effect on tandem stance but they have constructive effect on taekwondo parameters.
